Scotland is quite a windy place with prevailing south-westerly's, and this is one of the reasons why powerkiting is becoming one of the fastest growing sports in this country. Imagine holding onto a 4 metre powerkite while screaming down the beach in a buggy, or getting big air on a mountain board. Maybe you prefer just to get dragged about the sand, the choice is yours and the fun is endless. St Andrews in Fife and Stevenston in North Ayrshire are two of the most popular flying sites within Scotland, and every weekend the skies are filled with kites of all sizes.

Want to get started?
Powerkite shops are located throughout Scotland and can provide tuition and advice as well as stocking all the equipment you will need to start your flying career. For all your needs, visit www.extreme-zone.co.uk and www.tractionkiting.co.uk. Powerkiting can be enjoyed as a family activity and is suitable for all ages. It is however an extreme sport and tuition is recommended.
Where to go:
Your local beach, your local park, anywhere that has enough wind and there is suitable space, but remember to be mindful of overhead power supplies and other potential obstructions. Find some like-minded friends and take to the skies.
