Closely resembling skateboarding in that riders use a wheeled board, albeit with footbindings and larger sturdier wheels. They also like snowboarders, turn across the hill to check their speed, although some boards are fitted with brakes. Carried out on a specialised track or anywhere the landowner gives permission, the discipline falls into three distinct categories - downhill (on a predesigned track,) freestyle (jumps, ramps tricks etc) and freeriding (basically, find a hill and ride it). Be careful though, with experienced riders attaining speeds of over 50 mph on downhill runs, a sense of balance is essential!
