Scotland's winter mountains offer a drama, a beauty and a challenge not found anywhere else in Britain. Transformed by snow and ice, in many parts for up to eight months a year, they are a world apart from the summer scene of verdant slopes and delicate mountain flowers. But, for the mountain enthusiast, no less irresistible!Winter hillwalking and winter mountaineering are two of Scotland¿s most popular sports, offering an infinity of possibilities, from exploring the arctic nature of the Cairngorms¿ incredible high plateau, to tackling rocky ridges and snowy slopes right across the Highlands.
Thanks to Terry Adby and Stuart Johnston from climbmts for supplying us with the facts.
