East of Scotland, East Coast
The East Coast offers such jewels as the Bass Rock and the marine reserves at St Abbs.
West of Scotland, West Coast
With Scotland surrounded by stunning coastline it¿s a difficult call to make, but most kayakers head out to the west Coast for the wildlife spotting opportunities and the exploration around the islands.Tim Pickering of Adventure Hebrides says "St Kilda should be on everyone's list. I would say the west Coast of Scotland, North of Ardnumurchan, offers just the most incredible sea kayaking; but St Kilda is the ultimate." For the novices amongst us, Scotland also provides a great training ground with its sheltered sea lochs. Once you feel you can navigate your way round these lochs then it¿s an ideal place to try your hand with the more exposed coastal waters.
