Whitewater rafting takes the form of a large inflatable craft specially constructed to carry up to 8 adrenalin-seeking participants, down rivers of varying difficulty - from the tame to the extreme white water. A river guide who is familiar with the river expertly guides each boat around and through its obstacles. On your journey you will be encouraged to work together as a team to bump and glide your way along the rivers natural course, whilst enjoying all the wild and wacky rapids for which the Scottish rivers are famous. It will also give you a chance to see some stunning Scottish scenery.

Want to get started?
Until recently grade 5 drops and rapids would have been off limits to all but the most experienced kayaker, but a new breed of tough, inflatable rafts and an increase in the number of highly trained guides have made even these invigorating torrents accessible to all. Rafting centres provide all the equipment, apart from swimming gear, a towel and sense of humour. That you need to bring yourself!
Where to go:
Rafting can enjoyed all year round, with the same rivers changing face with the rise and fall of the water. Fore-bodingly named runs such as 'the Weir' and 'Hell-hole corner' hint at the kind of experience that you¿re likely to expect! Some of the best rivers are located not that far from Edinburgh and can be done in a days trip. The River Tay, River Tummel, River Braan, River Orchy, River Ericht,¿..all of which are located within 15 minutes of Dunkeld except the River Orchy which is a 1.5 - 2 hour drive away, these rivers vary in grade from 2-5.
