Hang Gliding in Scotland

If you want to experience the ultimate form of flying in utter peace and quiet then this sport is definitely for you. You can choose from two types of hang-gliders, rigid hang-gliders which are made from hard materials, usually glass fibre and then there are semi-rigid hang-gliders, which are made from aluminium bars, covered in cloth.

Where to go:

Clubs and schools are governed in the UK by the British Hang-Gliding and Paragliding Association. There is no formal qualification such as a pilot's licence, although all participants are encouraged to learn through a club and undertake tuition to keep the sport safe.

Learning to land is the hardest part and this takes quite a lot of time and practice. There are schools throughout the country which can teach you to fly, but hang-gliding is very weather dependent and it can take time to make progress, it's really dependant on how quickly you learn.
