Duckies

Duckies in Scotland
You what? No, this doesn't involve cruelty to waterfowl! It's like
whitewater rafting but on a smaller scale. A duckie (or fun yak) is a one-
or two-person inflatable kayak for use on fast rivers.
It is handled similarly to a conventional solid river boat, but because
it's softer and you're not held inside it by a spray deck, it's easier for
beginners to get to grips with.
If you flip upside down there's no tricky roll to perform - simply climb
back in and carry on. They are also self baling as well, so no likelihood
of sinking! With a bit of expert guidance you'll soon be running the rapids
and surfing the holes.
Where to go:
There are several operators offering duckie canoeing in Highland Perthshire. Fun Yakking is available just outside Fort William on the Highlands west coast.Want to get started ?
