Canoeing in Scotland

Scotland is one of the best locations in the world for open or Canadian (as it's sometimes known) canoeing.

With over 800 islands, numerous sea and inland lochs and whitewater rivers awaiting discovery, the open canoe has to be one of the most versatile and satisfying ways of travelling. Originating in North America, these craft can be paddled solo, with a friend or with family and they provide a totally different perspective of Scotland's stunning scenery.

Where to go:

Scotland offers fantastic gentle water for those who wish to try this adventure sport. There's also white water sections for the more experienced and many operators also offer multi-day trips and expeditions to remote waterways and lochs as you explore possibly the last vestiges of wilderness in Europe.

In Scotland it's also possible to cross the entire country by open canoe, either via the Caledonian Canal or by more adventurous routes!
