Wind Surfing in Scotland

Embraced as the 80's yuppie lifestyle hobby, windsurfing has never looked back. Sophisticated equipment means top 'sailors' can now achieve spectacular jumps and speeds of over 45 knots, and it's also a great adventure sport for beginners keen to try something different.
 
Scotland's temperate weather is perfect for windsurfing and with prevailing and consistently strong south westerly winds, blowing over the west coast places like the Isle of Tiree, Isle of Islay and Kintryre peninsula are amongst some of the best places to windsurf in Europe.

Where to go:

One of the best places to windsurf is on the Inner Hebridean island of Tiree. So much so that the Tiree Wave Classic windsurfing event has taken place here for over 20 years.

There are numerous other spots around Scotland including the west coast of many of the Outer Hebridean islands and a number of beaches along the Aberdeenshire and Fife coasts.
