While the typical Scottish weather deterred some, the Scots once again proved their dedication enduring strong winds and pouring rain for the majority of the Saturday.

<![CDATA[Pedal for Scotland]]> http://adventure.visitscotland.com/events/pedal-for-scotland/
As a challenge for some and the year's biggest training ride for others, Pedal for Scotland - the country's largest mass participation ride - is the perfect chance for you to do all that and more.

This year the race runs from Glasgow to Edinburgh and because it's only as hard as you want it to be, you get the chance to enjoy quiet roads, take in all the sights and sounds of this beautiful part of the world, out in the open and at your own pace.

There are regular rest stops along the way and mechanical back-up in case of difficulties. Add to this a carefully marshalled and signposted route, free snacks, entertainment and hopefully some well-known personalities also accepting the challenge alongside you.

<![CDATA[Mens Health Survival Of The Fittest]]> http://adventure.visitscotland.com/events/mens-health-survival/ The 2009 Edinburgh Survival is now under construction and much will be revealed over the coming weeks and months! The team have an outstanding course lined up for you, not least so because their event partners and organisers of Survival, the Rat Race Urban Adventure, staged their first ever Rat Race event here back in 2004!

From a base centrally located deep in the Old Town, the course will be taking you up, down and all over Edinburgh. This is the hilly one and you should expect severe gradient in this event. From the drama of the volcanic skyline and the stunning city centre parks, to the old and eery cityscape of the Medieval Old Town, this is an adventure at the very core of Auld Reekie and a route that will catapult you along a roller coaster of 1000 years of proud Scottish history.

<![CDATA[Intercontinental Rally]]> http://adventure.visitscotland.com/events/2545367/ The rally will cover 13 special stages totalling 224 competitive kilometres, over some of the best rallying roads in Scotland. Many of the stages were previously used more than 20 years ago as part of the legendary RAC Rally: Britain’s round of the World Rally Championship. Adding to the challenge of the tricky gravel roads will be the fact that some stages will be held in the dark, possibly in uncertain weather conditions.

Scotland’s First Minister Alex Salmond will flag away the cars, and the first two stages of the event will be spectator superspecials at Scone Palace: the traditional home of the Kings of Scotland. On Friday 20 November the cars will complete five forest stages totalling around 100 kilometres before the finish of leg one at 18:07.

On Saturday 21 November the cars will complete six more stages, including two runs over the longest stage of the event: the 35 kilometres of Loch Ard. The rally finishes outside Stirling Castle at 16:31.
