Only 15 minutes drive from Dumfries, you'll find the Hardrock, Moyle Hill and Ironhash trails here.
The Hardrock Trail, is an amazing Black graded route offering a riding venue unlike anything else in the UK. The 7stanes trail-builders have carved out feature-filled singletrack that undulates up and down, weaves in and out of trees and over and around Dalbeattie's famous granite rock, for over 18 miles! It includes some VERY steep sections, including the nerve tingling, downright scary Slab, rock bridges and causeways comprised of car-sized boulders.
Dalbeattie is also home to the Ironhash Trail and Moyle Hill Trail - fantastic green and blue graded trails for beginners and families.
What we do best:
Dalbeattie has Green, Blue, Red and Black routes; meaning there is something for everyone. As well as offering excellent technical single-track trails, there are also numerous easier - or should that be less challenging - options for all levels of rider, including a short skills loop from the car park, which is great for beginners or as a warm up before tackling the longer routes. However, Dalbeattie has become most famous for The Slab - a 15 metre long almost vertical (well, that?s what it looks like from the top!) slab of granite rock. Apparently, the best strategy is to point your bike down it and hope for the best (and on no account touch the brakes half way down). But another option which will be infinitely preferable to many - is to avoid it altogether, taking the glorious bit of single-track trail that loops around and comes out beneath it.
