Ecosse Mountains is a small mountaineering company run by Kevin Rutherford, a full member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors and holds the highest UK qualification, the Mountain Instructor Certificate.

Kevin has been walking and climbing in the Scottish mountains for the last 15 years, they inspired him so much that he gave up his desk job 6 years ago and went down the instructor road. As well as climbing in the UK, Kevin has climbed extensively in European Alps. Kevin also works as a trekking guide with recent successful trips to Mount Kenya and Kilimanjaro in Africa and to Nepal climbing Mera Peak and Island Peak.

Ecosse Mountains guarantees a friendly and professional service.

What we do best:

Lochaber & Glencoe Scrambling - A flexible course targeting some of the best scrambles in the UK. The course would initially look at safe movement over exposed ground, moving together, rope systems and navigation. These skills would then be put to the test on the classic west coast scrambles, Tower Ridge, Curved Ridge and Clach Glas- Bla Bheinn to name a few. A reasonable level of fitness and a head for heights essential.

Skye Cuillin traverse - The best excursion in the UK, the Black Cuillin. A 2 day expedition, 20km, 20 odd mountain tops of which 11 are "Munros" and approximately 10000ft of ascent. The traverse involves easy but exposed scrambling/rock climbing a couple of abseils and the feel of running a marathon. A good level of mountain fitness is a must. A pre stocked bivouac just over half way would leave you carrying a sleeping bag, carry mat and hill equipment/food and water for 2 days.
